Score to Par in 3 Hole Segments

Score to Par in 3 Hole Segments is a statistic that shows the Scoring Average to Par broken down by 3 hole groups. This statistic shows how performance changes as a round progresses, and is best used when including multiple rounds in the calculation as a single round may show variance between the groups due to the layout and difficult of the course rather than the performance of the player.

The 3 hole groups are grouped by the order they are played, not the hole number. If a player plays an 18 hole round and starts on hole 1, then the 3 groups are:

  • 1st 3 holes - hole 1, 2 and 3
  • 2nd 3 holes - hole 4, 5 and 6
  • 3rd 3 holes - hole 7, 8 and 9
  • 4th 3 holes - hole 10, 11 and 12
  • 5th 3 holes - hole 13, 14 and 15
  • 6th 3 holes - hole 16, 17 and 18

In this case the hole number and the order of the holes played are the same; however, if a player plays an 18 hole round and starts on hole 10, then the 3 groups are:

  • 1st 3 holes - hole 10, 11 and 12
  • 2nd 3 holes - hole 13, 14 and 15
  • 3rd 3 holes - hole 16, 17 and 18
  • 4th 3 holes - hole 1, 2 and 3
  • 5th 3 holes - hole 4, 5 and 6
  • 6th 3 holes - hole 7, 8 and 9
